Screenplay – The Art of Writing Films!
The need for a well-defined screenplay is a prominent need in the film industry. A well-made film is one where all the different departments of filmmaking fuse together into a seamless whole. Likewise, a well written script is one where all the elements of screenplay are fused together into an organic experience. In order to do this you may often find that you have to learn to re-orient your storytelling style. Why is this difficult? Because while we may have grown up watching films, when it comes to writing, the dominant form of writing that we are exposed to, is literary writing.
We grow up reading novels, short stories and therefore these are the influences of our literary style. Though both screenplays and novels spark the reader visually, the former has very less time to draw the reader into the setting. Moreover in a screenplay you need to show what the characters are feeling or going through instead of telling it, like in a novel. It is important that the writer learns the skill of viewing his full story which comes to him initially as a whole but he has to view it as a series of episodes, those episodes which actually constitute the content of the story. You discover more about the subtle differences regarding screenplays when you practice the art of writing one.
